Hard gelatin capsules provide a versatile dosage form increasing patient acceptability and compliance. Ease of dosing, formulating and ingredient compatibility is by far the most common solid dosage form we offer. Our capsules come in a variety of colors and sizes. We even have Fun-Caps® designed to increase compliance with children, including bubble gum and mint flavored varieties. But we haven’t forgotten about our canine friends, we have bacon capsules for them too.

Compounded capsules provide a consistent release rate and reliability of dosing. When formulating a capsule, Pavilion Compounding Pharmacists, take into consideration each patients unique needs, including allergies, drug compatibility, diet restrictions, i.e. religious concerns, and release characteristics.

In addition to providing a slow release of active drug, the formulation provides protection from stomach acid breakdown of the bio-identical hormone.

Another unique capsule we provide are oil-filled capsules. This method offers the Medical Provider another option to give their patient alternatives to powder filled capsules. Certain drugs, such as cyclosporine for dogs and cats are absorbed better with an oil filled capsules.

Additionally, natural hormone replacement therapies, such as progesterone can be formulated with alternative oils instead of the commercial available peanut oil version.

Lollipops as a dosage form

Medicated Lollipops offer our patients one of the most unique dosage forms available. Utilizing specific custom bases allows our compounding pharmacists to provide an elegant, well-tolerated dosage form that can provide many therapeutic options.

Examples of lollipop usages are:

1)Anesthetics: using lidocaine, tetracaine,benzocaine & others for throat and mouth pain

2) Pain relief: including fentanyl, codeine, ketamine, and a wonderful combination of diphenhydramine-lidocaine-& hydrocortisone in a Sorbitol Lollipop™ base

3) Oral Thush/Antifungals: including clotrimazole, amphotericin b, miconazole, also using our Sorbitol Lollipop™.

4) Smoking Cessation: using nicotine where the lollipops provide both physical and psychological help with smoking rituals

5) Nausea relief: ondansetron, promethazine, & ginger root 200mg
